To make use of the archive & sharing features of SmallNews, you first need to configure the database. This is done in the Database section of the Settings tab.

Two databases are supported:

• SQLite
• MySQL

In the case of SQLite, no extra configuration is required. Simply select SQLite, and articles will be saved to an embedded database.

For MySQL, you need to specify the hostname, database name, username and password. In the current version of SmallNews, the database must be running on the default port. The database specified must exist; the necessary tables will be created the first time SmallNews runs.
