Recording from BBC iPlayer

The BBC iPlayer is great, but for me it has three major problems:
- I want to watch TV on a TV. Or sometimes on my mobile phone. Very rarely on a computer.
- I want to watch it when I’m ready, which is very often not within the expiry period set by the BBC. If I record stuff on Sky+, it doesn’t expire. So why should it on iPlayer?
- My broadband connection is OK, but it’s still prone to causing pauses in the video when streaming. I hate it when that happens.
So, what I want is to be able to download the video, keep it for as long as I want, and play it on a variety of devices. The good news is that this is entirely feasible; the following pages describe how.
