Quick guide to using SmallDVD
Step 0: Prepare your video files
From v0.8, SmallDVD accepts video files in a variety of formats. If the files are not MPEG2 video with MP2 or AC3 audio, they will be converted. See file formats for more details
Step 1: Set the menu background
Click Select Menu Background and pick a JPG, TIFF or PNG background. Or just leave the default background.
Step 2: Add the video files
For each video file you want to put on the DVD, click Add Video File and select the file. You will be prompted for the title you want to appear on the menu for each file.
Step 3: Set the output filename & volume id for the DVD image (optional)
By default, the volume will be called NewDVD and be written to newdvd.iso on your desktop.
Step 4: Tweak the template (optional)
The template just controls where the buttons on the DVD menu go, how big they are, and which font to use. Click Edit Template to change the default settings. For more details, read Using the Template Editor
Step 5: Create the DVD image
Click Create DVD to build the DVD image. This will take a while as it has to remultiplex the video files into a format dvdauthor understands.
If you want to see what’s going on, select Terminal Output before starting the build - this will cause show all the messages delivered by the various utilities which build the DVD image. It is also useful for diagnosing what’s gone wrong when the build fails.
Alternatively, use the batch processor to create several images at once.
Step 6: Try it
Open the DVD image created, and try to play it with DVD Player.
Step 7: Burn to DVD
